Sacred Medicine Roots

The guiding principle of Sacred Medicine Roots is based on the knowledge that all life springs from the Earth and returns to the Earth in a continuous cycle, and everything we need to exist, flourish and thrive has been gifted to us by the planet.

Sacred Medicine Roots was dreamed into being as a means of weaving together ancient traditions and the skills I have acquired over a lifetime. Sacred Medicine Roots is influenced by Shamanism, an ancient system of healing based on a reverence for the natural world, the cycles of nature and a respect for all of humanity; it is about returning to our sacred roots.

Sacred Medicine RootsWe are living during times of great challenge and great opportunity. Humans are being called to evolve and grow as individuals in order to serve and contribute to the collective awakening. Healing ourselves and our relationship to others, to Mother Earth, and to Spirit is critical for our own personal fulfillment and for the future of humanity.

By promoting healing through plant-based nutrition, Earth-based spirituality, shamanic healing techniques and medicinal herbs, Sacred Medicine Roots’ programs will educate and empower individuals to take responsibility for their own health and wellbeing and live the fullest expression of their soul with balance and awareness in all aspects of their lifestyle.

Tamara Grenier

I was a “dreamy” child, very in tune with nature and a sense of something larger than myself. However, my dreamtime experiences and “felt-senses” were considered “foolishness” by those around me. As a result, I began to minimize and ignore them. Spirituality was something experienced as suffering stern glances in a pew while attending a Sunday sermon.Tamara Grenier Sacred Medicine Roots I was socialized into a world aligned with the belief that material possessions are the means to happiness and security, and feelings are not to be expressed.

My brother had Muscular Dystrophy and, following his death, I was encouraged to become a therapist. I obtained a BS in Occupational Therapy and worked in the allopathic medicine field for 10 years. It was clear to me that this was not my soul’s calling, but I especially enjoyed my later years working with children in early intervention and school settings. After my own two children were born, I changed course and began studying alternative therapies, obtaining certificates in Massage, Reiki, Craniosacral Therapy and Myofascial Release. At this point, my world began to expand. My experiences with energy healing were transformational.

I then began to study Shamanic Healing practices with a variety of masters. Extensive travels have included Thailand, India, Tibet, Ecuador, Mexico and multiple trips to Peru. During these journeys I have deepened my spiritual experiences, all the while feeling called back to the land.

With this increased reverence for the natural world it felt only natural to begin to study and follow a raw/living food diet. My studies in the field began with a certificate from Cornell in Plant-Based Nutrition and have since progressed substantially to other areas of raw food nourishment, including a Hippocrates Health Educator Certificate.Tamara Grenier Machu Picchu I have felt inspired by the health and light this diet brought to my life. I now find myself weaving this nutritional awareness with the spiritual and healing practices I have embraced and view them together as an integrated, holistic approach to living.

I am especially grateful to many teachers who have profoundly influenced my path, including: John Barnes-Physical Therapist, healer/warrior from whom I learned much about the human energy field , Rosemary Gladstar-Herbalist, founder of Sage Mountain Herbal School; Anne Drake- Psychotherapist and Shaman who first introduced me to shamanic studies; don Oscar Miro Quesada- Altomesayok and exquisite ceremonialist; Jose Luis Herrera – Gifted Shaman healer whose heart-centered teachings changed my life; don Mariano Quispe Flores, don Alejandro Apaza, dona Maria Apaza and don Pasqual Apaza Quispe- incredible visionaries and “pacos” (Andean priests) who gave me a glimpse into the ancient traditions of the Andes; Brooke Medicine Eagle- author, singer, teacher and kindred spirit whose wisdom and sage advice informs me daily, Dr. T. Colin Campbell, and Anna Forkan and Kristen Overlock of Revitalive Health and Wellness for their guidance and mentoring with the Raw and Living foods diet.  I must also include my parents and especially my two children, Kellan and Ali, among my most influential teachers.

My lifestyle is about living a balanced, healthy, sustainable existence. It is about living in harmony with nature and with complete joy. My passion is to teach and mentor others to integrate body, mind and spirit into a life ripe with abundance and fulfillment.
